About: Once an army training base, Croft State Park covers more than 7,000 acres of rolling, wooded terrain just a few miles from downtown Spartanburg. The park offers over 20 miles of biking and hiking trails, a playground, picnicking and camping, as well as fishing and boating in one of two lakes.

In Croft State Park, creeks and streams meet trails. The easiest creek to visit is Fairforest Creek, which is just a short walk from the park office along the Palmetto Trail. You can also visit the remnants of Walker’s Mill bridge along Kelsey Creek.

Location: From exit 22 on I-26 drive east on Highway 296 (Reidville Road) toward Spartanburg. After 1.0 mile turn right onto Highway 295 (Southport Road), then in 6.0 miles turn right onto Highway 56 (Cedar Springs Road). Travel 2.2 miles and turn left on Dairy Ridge Road. In 0.3 miles turn right into the entrance for the park. Follow the entrance road 3.1 miles to a four-way intersection and the park office. The parking area is near the corral just behind the office.

Hours: Open daily from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm in winter and 7:00 am to 9:00 pm in the summer.
